Hbits is independently operated from Singapore. For the purposes of applicable data protection laws, Hbits acts as the data controller of personal data collected through the Service.
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal data when you use the Hbits mobile application (“App”) and related services (together, the “Service”). It forms part of and should be read alongside our Terms and Conditions of Service.
By using the Service, you acknowledge that your personal data will be processed in accordance with this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the App.
1. Information We Collect
When you use the Service, we may collect the following categories of information:
Account Information: your name, email address, and profile details when you register for an account.
Habit & Progress Data: information about your habits, goals, and journey progress within the App.
Device & Usage Data: anonymised analytics data, such as device type, operating system, and App usage patterns, to help us understand and improve the App experience.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
provide and improve the Service;
personalise your experience within the App;
send optional notifications and reminders, which you may manage or turn off in your App settings at any time;
ensure the security of the Service and prevent misuse; and
comply with applicable legal obligations, including Singapore’s Personal Data Protection Act 2012 (“PDPA”).
We process your personal data based on one or more of the following legal grounds: (i) your consent; (ii) performance of a contract (providing the Service); (iii) compliance with legal obligations; and (iv) our legitimate interests in improving, securing, and operating the Service.
3. Data Sharing and Security
We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
We use encryption and appropriate technical and organisational security measures to protect your data against unauthorised access, loss, or misuse. While we take these measures seriously, no system is completely secure and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Certain limited data may be processed by trusted third-party service providers - such as payment processors (Apple and Google), analytics tools (e.g., app performance monitoring), data storage, and cloud hosting - solely for the purpose of delivering the Service. These providers are permitted to use your data only as necessary to provide their services to us, and we remain responsible for ensuring they handle your data appropriately.
We will not disclose your personal data to any other third party except: (i) with your consent; (ii) where required by applicable law or a court order; or (iii) in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, in which case we will notify you in advance.
Habit and reflection data are private by default and are not publicly visible. We do not use such data for advertising purposes.
4. Cookies and Analytics
We may use cookies or analytics tools to understand how the App is used and to improve its performance. These tools collect anonymised, aggregated data and are not used to identify you personally. You may be able to manage cookie preferences through your device settings, though disabling certain tools may affect App functionality.
5. Your Choices and Rights
You have the following rights in respect of your personal data:
You may update your account information at any time from within the App settings.
You may delete your account at any time from within the App settings. Upon deletion, we will remove or anonymise your personal data in accordance with this Privacy Policy and applicable law.
You may manage your notification and reminder preferences in your App settings at any time.
You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data by contacting us at support@hbitsapp.com. We will respond to all valid requests within a reasonable time and in accordance with the PDPA.
Where we rely on your consent to process personal data, you may withdraw that consent at any time. Withdrawal of consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out prior to withdrawal.
6. Data Retention
We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. If you delete your account or request data deletion, we will remove or anonymise your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we are required to retain it by law (for example, for tax or financial record-keeping purposes).
7. Artificial Intelligence Processing
Certain features of the Service may use artificial intelligence systems to generate or personalise content. Where applicable, user-submitted inputs (such as book titles or ideas) may be processed by AI systems for the purpose of generating structured habit journeys. AI processing is conducted securely and in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
8. International Data Transfers
Our Service is operated from Singapore. If you access the Service from outside Singapore, please be aware that your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in Singapore or in other countries where our third-party service providers operate. By using the Service, you consent to such transfers. We will ensure that any such transfers comply with applicable data protection laws.
9. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by posting a notice within the App for at least 7 days after the changes are posted, and will update the effective date at the top of this policy. Your continued use of the Service after such notice constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy. If you do not agree to the revised policy, you must stop using the Service.
